The lab is open to all faculty, students, and staff with a current CSU ID. The lab features Internet access, multimedia production software, language learning applications, scanners, CD and DVD recorders, and knowledgeable staff to provide assistance. Alumni Lamar University graphic design alumni hold diverse positions in the industry, including printing companies, web design firms, and advertising agencies throughout Texas, including the cities of Southeast Texas, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.Located within Digital Design Studio in RT 301, the Digital Design Studio Lab provides members of the CSU community with the resources to review audiovisual media and to create effective multimedia material of their own for class presentations and projects. Membership in this organization is open to all students in the Department of Art & Design. Funds raised support travel to design conferences, visiting artist lectures, and design-related events. This student organization also provides networking with alumni, internships, and job opportunities in the field.

Student Organization The Lamar University Design Studio is an officially recognized student organization that provides pre-professional design opportunities to students. Our facilities are well maintained to accommodate and prepare students working in all facets of graphic design. Our graphic design studio stays up to date with Adobe Creative Suite Software, which includes Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Dreamweaver, as well as Lightwave 3D. The graphic design studio consists of 18 Macintosh workstations, as well as workstations dedicated for printing and scanning.

The professional undergraduate graphic design curriculum culminates in Lamar’s distinctive senior thesis program involving a series of original works produced by each Bachelor of Fine Arts degree candidate, exhibited in the Dishman Art Museum, and defended by the student in a formal written thesis. Internship study opportunities are also available to Lamar University graphic design students. Study includes courses in graphic design, typography, brand identity, illustration, web design, digital imaging, motion design, environmental design, 3d printing, and portfolio development. In addition to courses in the visual arts and art history, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program in Graphic Design offers a variety of courses to prepare students for the professional field. By emphasizing and maintaining high standards, our curriculum reflects the quality and competitive rigor demanded by recognized and respected design firms.
